Saaya Kaneda was a member of the basketball club and one of the victims who died following the minibus crash. She's an energetic girl with a somewhat short temper.
Plot
Grisaia no Kajitsu
During the crash, she received a laceration to her forehead, which Kazuki stitched closed using a fishing hook and line, then bandaged. As the crisis deepens, she starts to develop a cruel streak, and becomes more selfish. Her wound becomes infected, festers, and becomes infested with maggots. On the fifteenth night, she and several other girls chase down Kazuki and Amane, and she and Ritsu Koide manage to restrain Kazuki while Amane escapes.
Grisaia no Rakuen
In an attempt to escape from Kaneda's grasp, Kazuki punches her in the nose, breaking her already fractured arm in the process. After an altercation leaves Captain Sakashita severely wounded, and both Haruna Ibuki and Minori Sakuma dead, Sakashita tells Kazuki the location of an emergency cache of food. When Kazuki, Saaya, and Ritsu go to retrieve the cache, Saaya collapses, screaming about an intense pain in her head. Kazuki determines that she's leaking cerebrospinal fluid from her brain, and has developed a pneumocephalus (an air bubble in the brain). Kazuki manages to stabilize her, but she ultimately succumbs to a combination of the trauma to her brain, and Hepatitis E contracted from eating tainted human meat.
Trivia
- When the symptom of pneumocephalus starts to surface, Kazuki mentioned that it is the cause of death for Tsukasa Shikanai on the first day of the accident, where she died 10 minutes after regaining conscious.
