Satoko Kazami (風見 聡子, Kazami Satoko) was the wife of Ryouji Kazami and the weak willed mother of Yuuji Kazami and Kazuki Kazami who constantly suffered the verbal and physical abuse of Ryouji.
When Kazuki was still around, Satoko just ignored her son in order to not get into trouble, but after Kazuki was gone and the domestic abuse from her husband worsened, she and Yuuji left their house and lived in peace for about a year, only for Ryoji to track them down and tried to rape her in front of Yuuji. When Yuuji killed his father, she told Yuuji to wait at the train station, while she hung herself.
Personality[]
Satoko was a diffident and weak-willed woman who was emotionally unavailable for her children. This, along with Ryouji Kazami's overbearing behavior, alienated Yuuji Kazami in his early years. Yuuji thinks of her as a kind, but weak person who could only make promises and say sorry, hence why Yuuji doesn't like women who apologize too much.
After Kazuki Kazami's accident, Satoko did show some concern for Yuuji, and she took him with her when she fled the house. For a year, Satoko looked after Yuuji. However, after Ryouji was killed, Satoko committed suicide and abandoned Yuuji.
Plot (Anime, Grisaia no Meikyuu)[]
According to Yuuji Kazami, Satoko was weak person who could only make promises that she couldn't keep. She doesn't have the courage to do anything against her husband, Ryouji Kazami. As a result, she didn't take a good care about Yuuji until Kazuki Kazami scolded her. Satoko began to feed Yuuji in secret to avoid being scold by her husband.
After the news of Kazuki's death, Ryouji began assaulting Satoko on the daily basis. Without Kazuki, she started to somewhat take her maternity role and hide Yuuji before getting abuse to make sure he would not be assaulted too. Eventually, she grew tired of the abuse and decided to ran away, taking Yuuji with her. She is shown to greatly care for Yuuji when Ryouji is not around.
Unfortunately, their peace would only lasted for about a year, as Ryouji manage to track them down. While Yuuji was sent to get alcohol, Ryouji sexually assault her under the pretense of creating another "genius child". When Yuuji returned, she ask Yuuji to run away. However, Yuuji decided to help his mother, only to get easily kicked away by his father. After witnessing Yuuji killing her husband out of rage, she gave him money and order Yuuji to wait at the train station. Once he left, she frame the scene to take the blame for Ryouji's murder, and after finish writing an apology letter, took her own life by hanging herself. Her body was later discovered by a traumatized Yuuji.

- Satoko's surname Kazami means "wind, breeze, way, manner, blast/blaster, gale, gust, sirocco, method" (風) (kaza) and "see, hopes, chances, idea, opinion, look at, visible" (見) (mi).

- In the visual novel, Satoko is possible to be the source of Kazuki Kazami's genetic love on Yuuji Kazami as she was shown to have sex to Yuuji and she did it with passion like how Kazuki did.
